Richard Youell is a photographer and field sound recordist who has lived in Waterbeach, just outside Cambridge for over 20 years. Richard usually takes his inspiration from ‘the great outdoors’ although he also enjoys wildlife, ‘street’ and portrait photography. His sound recording work usually compliments his photographs by providing an ambient or habitat track to engage the auditory as well as the visual senses.
Richard has been a keen landscape photographer since he was a teenager and his interest in field sound recording developed alongside the photography. Often finding himself at impressive visual locations and noticing the amazing accompanying soundscapes. He has been sound recording and photographing together for about 10 years.
